Recently I had the opportunity to be a guest on the ILM podcast to talk about all things personal finance for developers.
I mention that non-value-add spending is like "wasted renders" in React – they aren't doing anything for you. Wasted render spending is an easy first step to take for getting control back of your money – you aren't making any lifestyle changes, it's literally money that's being thrown away.
PS. And if you haven't already watched my 50-minute talk on personal finance for developers, go watch it.
In the talk, I share two such examples – swapping Verizon for Mint and switching to GEICO saved me 76% on my car insurance. 🦎Overall, I was able to cut $2,136 from our monthly spending.
